Tuesday, January 8, 2008Some People Have Real Jobs
I wrote a feature article for the new magazine, Unlimited. It's about how I marry art and commerce (we've separated and gotten back together dozens of times), and includes accounts of a lot of the shitty jobs I've had over the years.
Please add anecdotes based on the lousiest jobs you've ever had, and describe how they made you stronger!
Comments:
Ah you know I am the queen of crap arse jobs. If only I did the spanking job. Well at least the song is funny.
My two favourites include: A 3 week stint at "Smorgy's all you can eat family restaurant" in Melbourne where I was fortunate enough to get to wear a very flattering purple, red and yellow hawaiian print shirt and my job description included being sexually harassed by the sweaty, hairy scary dishwasher Frank from Epping and collecting plates and scraping uneaten portions of food into the garbage. But we got free pop on shift. That's all that matters right? Cleaning rich peoples houses in london. I remember a particuarly special morning cleaning the shit out of one right old bastards dirty toilet bowl, feeling very inadequate as a human being and spending the rest of the day contemplating how I got to that point, toilet after toilet after... There is a song written somewhere from this time period: "Constipation is my friend".
I was checking out new stuff on iTunes went to sundance and started looking at some shorts; I thought they were all 2 hour movies and said to myself great ...

Came across your contribution and I really liked it, bought it and will buy your album as well. its the cynical persons rap and the words don't rhyme with every other one the ideas or picture you paint with your words rhyme. I'm 50 this Feb. and I like it a lot. and will be introducing my son who is 23 to it as well. << Home |
